Yesterday, the academy was delighted to host a celebration event in honour of the incredible progress made in our academy garden this year. Families of students and staff were warmly invited to come together, reflect on the year’s achievements, and enjoy the beautiful space that has blossomed through hard work and dedication.
Guests enjoyed a cream tea with scones, strawberries and cream, and a delicious rhubarb fool made using rhubarb harvested straight from the garden. Displays of student work and photographs showcased the garden’s transformation, from the hand-dug pond to the evolving sensory area.
This event followed on from our successful Family Gardening Day, where families joined students in hands-on gardening activities, supported by the West Cumbria Rivers Trust as part of their “Greener Grounds” initiative. Their continued support has been instrumental in making the garden a thriving, inclusive space for learning and wellbeing.
Mrs Bleasdale shared how heartwarming it was to see families enjoying the garden together once again, and expressed her gratitude to everyone who has contributed to its success.
A huge thank you to all who attended and helped make the celebration so special.
