Year 8/9 iPad Scheme
Over the last few years, technology has moved on leaps and bounds and profound new opportunities for education have emerged. Communication is changing, methods of learning and working are evolving, and if we want our young people to be prepared for the opportunities and challenges they will face, we at the academy must evolve too.
Children spend a lot of time at school, but the learning that takes place at home is also extremely important to their future success. New technology, such as tablet devices, gives us the ability to make learning more engaging and more effective in the classroom, and the opportunity to extend learning beyond it, out into the community. We offer an iPad scheme which we believe enhances students’ learning experiences. We encourage the use of this device to be used as a tool for educational purposes only, in order to ensure each child can access their learning in a safe and supportive platform.
NOTE FOR YEAR 8 PARENTS AND CARERS:
We are now approaching the time when your son/daughter’s iPad is due for upgrade. When your son/daughter joined the academy in September 2022 a split scheme was offered with students receiving a new iPad at the beginning of year 7 with a refresh scheduled for the beginning of year 9. The rationale for this approach was to ensure that students have access to a high-performance iPad for the duration of their education from years 7 to 11.
WHAT DO WE NEED TO HANDOVER?
The changeover of devices is anticipated to take place within the first week of September. During tutor time your current iPad will be collected and checked. At this time you will find that the rental payments stop after August, with the new agreement starting in September. When we collect the iPad we will be looking for:
- The original iPad
- The iPad charger and cable
- The iPad box
- The protective case
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that all devices remain under insurance for accidental damage. If you notice any damage, please direct your child to see Mr Cooper (via the reception desk) for advice and guidance. Once the iPad has been collected your child will be invited to collect the brand new iPad.
WHAT DOES THE 3 YEAR SCHEME LOOK LIKE?
This will allow you to sign up for the 3 year scheme, where the iPad you receive is the one you will keep.
Prior to the changeover event we will require you to sign up for a new iPad which your son/daughter will use in years 9, 10 and 11. This will enable us to make sure that the insurance is in place for all new devices, and that any other changes that have occurred in details, over the past two years, are updated.
Under the new policy your child will receive an upgrade and the following:
- iPad WI-FI 64GB SILVER-GBR 10th Generation
- Operlo Basilisk case for 10.9/10th Gen
- Tempered glass
- Skiriva stylus
- Extended warranty cover
- 3 year Jamf
- 3 year accidental damage and theft
