West Lakes Academy Presents

She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition

A play by Qui Nguyen

West Lakes Academy is proud to present ‘She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition’, a thrilling and heartfelt play by Qui Nguyen, running on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th March 2026 at 7pm.

Blending the epic imagery of tabletop role-playing games with sharp humour and emotional depth, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans, a young woman who discovers her late sister’s Dungeons & Dragons campaign. As Agnes journeys through a fantastical world of demons, dragons, and dice rolls, she is forced to confront grief, identity, and the power of imagination.

West Lakes Academy’s production embraces the play’s Dungeons & Dragons aesthetic, bringing the fantasy world to life through theatrical combat, bold design, and imaginative storytelling.

The production is directed by Mr Turpin and Ms Jackson and performed by students from Year 8 to Year 13, showcasing a wide range of talent across the academy. A distinctive feature of the show is a collaboration between the Drama and Art departments, with students from Mrs Fye’s Art Club designing and creating original puppets and fantasy creatures for the production. These handcrafted elements add a striking visual layer, blending live performance with puppetry to vividly realise monsters and magical beings on stage.

The production celebrates creativity, collaboration, and the joy of genre storytelling, while exploring themes of loss, self-acceptance, and connection. Whether you’re a theatre lover, a fantasy fan, or someone who’s ever rolled a D20, She Kills Monsters offers something bold, funny, and unexpectedly moving.
