The West Lakes Academy Year 11 Prom was recently held at The Whitehaven Golf Club, where 165 guests came together to celebrate the end of school and the completion of exams.
The evening followed an “Under the Stars” theme, with entertainment from DJ Ian Brathwaite and Picture Blast, who captured lasting memories with their photo mirror.
Awards were presented to:
- Prom King: Freddie Sutton
- Prom Queen: Emily Walker
- Prom Prince: John Kell
- Prom Princess: Matilda Rogers
- Best Dressed: Sienna Stanaway & CJ Rowell-Parr
- Best duo– Boys: Bradley Hoy & William Clarke
- Best duo- girls Miley Bond & Lily Rogers
- Most likely to go on love Island: Matthew Henderson
- Best Humour: George Harrison
- Einstein: Mark Fawcett
- Most likely to be famous: Sadie Woodburn
- Win a Olympic medal- girls: Francesca Richardson
- Win a Olympic medal – Boys: Alister Wilson
- Life of the Party: Layton Jackson
- Couple that never happened: Summer Raynor & Mikey Leong
- Most likely to be ID’d at 30: Masie Young.
Pastoral Manager Dana Bennett reflected on the event, saying: “The evening was stunning from beginning to end. It began with hundreds of students past and present, parents, staff, and members of the public gathering at the academy to see the students off. They arrived in style , by tractors, lorries, and luxury sports cars. The students looked beautiful, and seeing them all grown up was really emotional. The atmosphere was electric, and they spent the night dancing and singing together. The venue, photographer, DJ Ian Brathwaite, and the Prom Committee all did an outstanding job. A Huge thank you to the staff that gave up their Friday evening to celebrate with our year 11’s. A fabulous night was had by all.”
