West Lakes Academy welcomes Year 11 students into the academy today to collect their GCSE results.
Principal James Jackson said:
“I am delighted so many of this fantastic year group, the largest West Lakes Academy has ever known, have chosen to join us today to collect their exam results in person. Recent weeks have been very confusing for these young people and I welcome the clarity of this week’s announcement on the awarding of Centre Assessed Grades. I hope they feel the grades reflect their hard work leading up to the partial school closure on March 20th and I have nothing but praise for the way they have conducted and expressed themselves over the last few weeks – their resilience, one of the key values of the academy has shone through. This has been a year like no other and I look forward to welcoming many of these students into our sixth form in September. As with our A Level results last week, I would also like to thank all the staff at the academy for their resilience and adaptability over recent weeks and also the parents of these young people who have supported and guided them which has enabled them to achieve these fantastic results.”
Mrs Anita Clements, the Head of Year 11 added:
“To see so many of the year group today has been amazing. With the cancellation of Prom and our Leavers’ Assemblies, to be able to hold this event safely today gives them a closure to Year 11 and a look forward to their studies at sixth form. They have been a super year group and their results today are a real testament to their hard work during their time at the academy. I wish them lots of luck and look forward to seeing many of them in the academy in September.”
Mr Jonathan Johnson, CEO of the West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust also added:
“I congratulate the students and staff at West Lakes Academy, whose commitment to quality education is ensuring that the young people of West Cumbria have real choices open to them as they move on to further education and employment.”
